Well, it’s started, well it started some time ago but we’ve now moved into fourth gear in terms of communicating more widely that we’re changing our name.
As I ate a brussel sprout, I heard Ringo Starr (nee Richard Starkey) on the television and caught Bruce Willis saying, “would Walter Willis have ever been a leading man?”
And it’s true, would Norwich Union have ever reached its true potential as a Global Insurance Company being “Norwich Union” around the world? The answer is no!
Despite all the emotional attachments, the memories, the heritage, the inherent trust, it was never going to be the name “Norwich Union” on the lips of Russians, Chinese, New Yorkers, Southern Irish, Australians, Indians or in Singapore or Canada, you name it.
And now we’re building one organisation, one name, one look, one company, one logo, one everything in fact (One Aviva is Andrew Moss’s mantra, by the way, he’s Group CEO in case you didn’t know, Numero Uno, the top man in charge, and has he made a difference since he got the job or what).
And I bet he thought 2008 would have been easier, well, 2009 and beyond will be easier by far with one name.
And as Ringo Starr, Dame Edna, Elle Macpherson and Bruce Willis shouted across the airways as I ate my third sausage wrapped in bacon with a cheesy sauce, “sometimes a change of name is more than a change of name , sometimes it’s a chance to show the world who you really want to be”
Well we’ve got a lot to live up to.
Happy New Year, now where’s the mince pie!?
P.s. If you haven’t got an email from us about stocks of Aviva literature for the 1 June 2009, then click on the link below for more details. Forms need to be returned to us by the 16 January 2009.
